Only One Thing is Needed

eagle

The only thing that is ever needed is God’s approval.  It doesn’t matter what others say.  It doesn’t matter what the news says.  It doesn’t matter what circumstances say.  It doesn’t matter what the statistics say.  It doesn’t matter what our weaknesses say.  Only one thing is needed, and that is what God has to say.  To leave the limitations of our own human understanding, no matter how advanced that understanding has become, is to really soar in realms above.  To follow God’s voice is to soar on wings like eagles above the storm, God’s spirit is the eye of the storm, and his word is the air beneath our wings that let’s us soar above every earthly force that seeks to pull us down and distort the truth.  No man or woman will ever trump the voice and knowledge of God.  Those who are led by the Spirit are his sons.  Only on thing is needed.  God’s approval.  Think of Simon Peter who tried to tell God what was clean, and that he would not touch what God now told him was clean.  Who created the clean and the unclean?  Who made everything?  Who made the law?  Who allowed the storm?  Who made the universe, only to rest on the 7th day and call it good?  He gives, and he can take away.  Do we now look to the created over the one who created it?  God speaks into existence.  God can change it.  Only one thing is needed.  That is to hear one word from God and have his approval.  God, I love your voice.  I love the presence of your spirit.  When you speak, I want to stop and listen so I can hear it.  What will you say now?  You have said to me, “be still, and know that I am God”.  Whom shall I fear?  Who’s judgement shall stand ?  Who is he who condemns?  It is God who’s judgement will stand.  I have been favored and loved though I didn’t do anything to deserve it.  I have been called, chosen, justified, and now glorified as you see fit.  You have done this.  You truly are my bridegroom.   No one trumps you.  No one is stronger than you.  No one knows me and protects me like you do.  Who can best my God?  No one will ever come close, my glorious King.  I long for you.  Praise to the God who stays.  Praise to the one who made me.  Thank You!Soaring Eagle

Set A Fire

soulfire

Dear Lord,

Set a fire in every person’s soul.  Burn away the chaff, expose the lies, show us who you are so that we will see you in Spirit and in Truth.  Show us your love.  Show us your face.  Let your truth burn deep within our souls.  Set my heart on fire.  I want all that is not of you to burn away.  Heal my hurts, bind up my wounds.  Make what is old pass away, that I will come from the fire brand new.  I want to be who you made me to be.  Consume my heart and my life Lord.  Let only your will be what is left.  Cause my entire life to be worship to you.  Let everything within me glorify you always, my husband, my King, My God.  Come Holy Fire.  Thank you loving God.  Amen.

Faith and Love are One

faith-bible-verse-3

Faith and Love are the same.  Having faith is having love for God.  Just as having love for a man is to respect him, having faith in God is loving him.  Why is that?  Having faith is telling him you believe in him.  Believing in him is a deep concept.  It means that we believe he is God of the universe.  It means that we believe he is supreme and can do anything and that he knows everything.  Having faith in who he is is like worship to him.  It is a sweet, pleasing aroma to him.  We are told that without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).  It is by faith that we are justified, and it is by faith that we are condemned.  It is our faith that saves us, by it we overcome.  It is our faith that was given to us, as it is written that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:2).  Faith is how we come to understanding about God and Jesus.  Faith is how we find our way to him.  Faith is a gift.  To not have faith is to reject God.  To reject the gentle love for him that he had placed in our hearts is to deny his love as well.  Love for God is to have faith.  Faith without works is dead, we show what we really believe by the choices that we make.  We either accept God and Jesus, or we deny them both by Faith.  We cannot have love for God if we do not have faith.  Faith and Love are one.  Faith and Love never pass away.

Hear His Voice

shepherd-and-sheep

John 10:27-28 KJV  “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand”

Don’t be threatened by people or circumstances.  Don’t be distracted by the noise.  Don’t be distracted by negative emotions or any thoughts that exalt them above God’s truth.  Just listen to the Shepherd’s voice.  He knows the way.  Only one thing has ever been needful.  It is to hear his word, and to follow him anywhere he may lead.  If he says it is OK, it is OK.  If he speaks and says to stop, stop.  If he gives you a morsel of word to think on, chew on it and be still as it nourishes your body.  He knows the way, you are not an orphan.  He will not abandon you or lead you astray.  Without him we can accomplish nothing, but allowing him to lead and following him will lead us the right way.  Thank the Lord today for giving you the great shepherd to follow.  Listen for his voice.  What is the Shepherd saying to you today?  Lord speak, your child is listening.

High Places & Heavenly Realms

highplaces

Have you ever given much thought to what it means when we are told that we were raised with Jesus and seated with him in heavenly realms (Ephesians 2:6)?  We all know that when we received salvation, we were promised to go to heaven when we die right?  However, this spiritual place of heavenly realms is not limited to the afterlife.  Rather, we have been placed in that spiritual position now as we have placed our faith in Christ.  We have been seated with him in heavenly realms, even as we dwell on earth still.

When the bible discusses dwelling places, it is generally discussing the focus of our mind and our heart.  What do we fixate on and dwell on?  We our mind focuses is where our mind dwells.  This is called our dwelling place.  As the Psalmist mentioned in Psalm 84:1-2,  “how lovely are your dwelling places, O Lord of Heaven’s armies.  I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord”.  It is not likely that this psalmist had actually visited heaven as we think of heaven when we die, at least his physical body had not yet entered it, yet our spirits have been risen there.  He is referring to the realm of heaven.  This is where we have the ability to dwell even now.  Life on earth is not meant to be lived in sorrow, but rather with joy.  This is what Jesus was saying in John 10:10 when he said that he came that we may have life, and to have it in abundance.  My friends, it is possible, and probable that when you dwell with Jesus, in your heart and mind you literally transcend the realm of death and enter into his heavenly realms.  For this we ought to give him thanksgiving.

High things that we think on, are things that seem to transcend normal earthly order, yet its where our hopes and desires reach for.  This is where Satan attacks us as well.  He will bring about a “high” thing for our hearts and minds to dwell on, yet these are no where near being exalted to the heavenly realms where God and Jesus reside.  If he can capture our mind, and direct where we dwell which is anywhere other than God’s intended heavenly realm, then he brings us pain, torment, death and destruction.  Here we reap every bad fruit and consequence of straying from God’s intended path of blessing and destiny.  It starts with where our hearts and minds dwell.  In 2 Corinthians 10:5 we are told to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the true knowledge of God.  It would be so hard to list every possible “high thing” that Satan captures our minds with.  For one, I don’t know every high thing, and two the list even as I do know it is endless.  Let’s consider a few high things that rob our high places or dwelling places that were meant for heaven: drugs, and the high they give, addictions, idols and the false or temporary satisfaction that devoting our standards to them bring, pride- promoting ourselves to an elevated position that leads us to worship ourselves rather than the truth and what is right.  A desensitization to what is sinful and wrong, sensual indulgences of many kinds including fornicating with beats, multiple people, adultery, and the very idea of being free to do so with its own sense of promising fulfillment.  Witchcraft, philosophies, spiritualism of many kinds that give a sense of spiritual indulgence yet it all leads us away from the truth.  Then we have deception, which is mixing the truth with the blatant idolatry and fornication with the devil, who makes us think that mixing scriptures with sinful pleasures is alright.  Here’s the bottom line, none of these “high things” that intoxicate our dwelling places even for a moment will ever truly lead us to heaven or God.  They are all meant for one reason, and one reason only, to “steal, kill, and destroy” John 10:10.  Oh you may not believe it for the moment and might laugh at the notion, but I’ll tell you that even if you never suffer an ounce of dissatisfaction while living on earth, you will see the truth wholeheartedly when you do die, forever separated from God who you neglected to get to know.  “High” things that exalt themselves against the TRUE knowledge of God are not of God at all, they are just a lie.

I love the way the truth of God’s dwelling place is spoken about in Psalm 16:11 NIV

“You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand”

And Psalm 91:1 KJV it states, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the almighty”

These are all talking about where we set our minds.  How do we set our minds on God and dwell in his dwelling places?  Isaiah 26:3 KJV discloses this secret to us, it states,

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You”

Dwelling in heavenly realms, in God’s courts, in his secret place, hiding under his wings is thinking about and caring about what he thinks, what makes him happy, praising him, praying to him at all times in all kinds of ways, and striving to be right in his sight, throwing off willingly every hindrance that besets.  It is thinking on his promises, meditating on his words and eating them to your fullest satisfaction day and night.  It is waiting on him.  It is seeking the truth about his will by searching it out and in his word and committing your ways to it.  It is considering him in all your ways so that he can make your paths straight.  It is trusting him in spirit and in truth.  It is loving him.  In short it is making him your God, worshiping  him with your life, and not putting any other God above him.

Oh Lord, how lovely are your dwelling places.  I will forever praise you my King, My Messiah, My counselor, the lover of my Soul, my brother, my husband, My God

Qualified- The Veil Was Torn

tornveil

Matthew 27:50-51 KJV

“Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.  And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent”

The veil was torn after Jesus died.  What does this mean?  It means that we were qualified.  Qualified for what?  Prior to the event of Jesus crucifixion, only the qualified high priest was permitted to enter the Holy of Holies, a small room with a candle and golden alter, which was hidden by the veil.  There, he burned incense and sprinkled sacrificial animal blood on the alter to God because this was God’s requirement for the remission of sins.  This was done once a year, and it was a solemn and sacred event.

When Jesus died, the veil to the Holy of Holies tore in half.  This means that we are now qualified.  We are now holy enough, righteous enough, worthy enough, esteemed enough, and honored enough to approach God.  No more veil, no more requirements such as washing the feet and hands for cleanliness because we were made spotless by the blood of the lamb.  No more blood sacrifices are required, because Jesus was our sacrifice.  No more justification by keeping the law is required, because Jesus became our justification.

Since Jesus’s death qualified us, God now calls us, and then justifies us (Romans 8:30).  Then, after he justifies us, he glorifies us as a royal priesthood, a spotless bride.  How does God justify us?  He calls things that appear to be not as though they are.  We see our failures, but he shows us our justification.  Just as one might justify a child’s behavior to someone, God justifies our behaviors to us.  He gives us faith.  So why do we need to be justified if we are already qualified?  We are not really justified until we know that we are justified.  We are qualified, but unless we believe that we are qualified, its as if we aren’t because the righteous will live by faith (Romans 1:17).

What have we been qualified for exactly?  For heaven, for life.  To live justified, redeemed, and forgiven.  To have unhindered intimacy with our creator who now dwells among us, in the spirit of our hearts, and throughout our lives.  To many he calls for them to join with him, but sadly they refuse.  Most don’t know that they had been qualified.  Some still erroneously think that Christianity is just for the weak, deceived, radical, or the perfect.  Jesus Christ gave his life so that yours can be saved, through faith.  Those who choose to live without Christ are also choosing to die without Christ.  We will live by what we believe, and we will die according to what we believe as well.

If you say that Jesus Christ is Lord, and you truly believe that  he was risen from the dead, then you will be saved (Romans 10:9).  Why do we have to say it if we want to be saved?  Because that means that you truly believe, because from the abundance of your heart, your mouth speaks (Luke 6:45).  He has qualified us, do  you believe?

Those who do truly believe can now “give joyful thanks to the father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light” (Colossians 1:12 NKJV).  Thank you God for sending us Jesus, who was your Son, to qualify us to also be your sons and to enjoy all of your inheritance.  I believe!  Thank you Jesus for dying for us.  I praise you God.  Amen.

That Is Hunger….

hunger

That lack of satisfaction with something in your life, that is called hunger.  That need to change something about yourself which never goes away even when you justify it, that is hunger.  That lack of peace and happiness you feel, that is hunger.  Hunger is similar to the empty, burning you feel in your stomach pouch when your body runs low on fuel, sometimes hunger is manifested in other areas of your body, such as weakness, tiredness, irritability.  Those who have low blood sugar often feel the pains of hunger and learn to easily identify when they need to eat.  It is common knowledge that those of us who overeat on food, are often try to substitute soul hunger for physical hunger.  We even are so convinced that it is hard to train our brain otherwise, stressful eventual= sudden irresistible urge to raid the fridge or order a cheesy pizza.. or .. fill in the blank.

The bible speaks much about soul hunger, and even tells us the name of it, giving it a label for those of us who like and rely on labels, this label can help us identify what we are actually hungry for.  This label is called, “righteousness”.  Yes, we are deeply hungry for righteousness, to the point that without it we may whither away and die in our souls.  The Lord has helped me become familiar with this new label, and as I seek him when I’m feeling dissatisfied, he is teaching me why.  True, we humans often have emotions or a longing for something and we can’t even identify what the need is.  Some of us who believe we are smart in our rights will often label it ourselves, but we are told that this is foolishness, and to fear God and not rely on our own understanding.  He says, “acknowledge me in all your ways and I will make your paths straight”.  As smart as I think that I am, I have learned that I really know nothing unless the Lord teaches me.  So all that I have is from him.  I know much only because I seek him much as a clueless vessel.  “Lord, please help me know, I don’t have a clue”.  He honors that, he is merciful and expands my understanding a lot.  I cannot brag, it is all from him because I admit I don’t have a clue.  When we humble ourselves before him, he will lift us up.  Humility is simply understanding who the credit truly belongs to, that is all.  Those who believe it is because they are naturally smarter than everyone else, are truly the foolish ones, and those who are the dumb and weak in the world, God will lift them up.  Actually, we are all the same to God, foolish or humble, he exalts all who ask because he gives graciously to all without finding fault (James 1:5).

So, as I was saying, when I ask God, “why am I feel dissatisfied, why do I feel discontent?”  He reminds me of something that I have been struggling with for as long as I can recall, and I think of all the ways I have tried to overcame, only to fail.  How I’ve tried to accept it, how at moments of weakness I make excuses and justify it, making room for the flesh.  The bottom line is, even though my flesh is so entrenched and does not want to  change, but Jesus died so that I can have freedom from that.  That is called  being dead in the flesh.  As long as I live according to the old dead man, I will reap soul death.  Jesus died so that I can overcome and rise above.

If I was content living in that state of old ways and having soul death, then I wouldn’t need a Savior nor would I have hope for something better.  Yet, because I have been saved by grace through faith, I been promised new life, and for this reason I am dissatisfied.  That is called soul hunger.  That has been given a label which Jesus called, “righteousness”.  He said, “blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied (Matthew 5:6).  If you are a Christian, and are feeling dissatisfied, I assure you that you are hungry.  Sure, you believe you are hungry for _______..  fill in the blank but I’m predicting what you think belongs in that blank is a desire you have been longing for, but that is not what you are hungry for.  What you and I and every person hungers for is to be righteous.  The dead hunger for life, those who have never been born again.  They are at risk of never obtaining true life as long as they reject the truth and embrace Satan’s lie that there is no true salvation nor purpose in this life.  They say coping is the way to handle this life, to make the best of it, and then expect to die, the end.  Those who are saved, long for fullness of life.  They long to step out of the chicken coop and soar above the storm, because they are now an eagle though in their old way of believing they still live as if they are a chicken who can only hop, flapping its wings and go so far.  We all are meant to soar.  Soaring is being alive, identifying with life, and this begins with dissatisfaction.  Friends, that dissatisfaction is a gift.  It is called, “hunger and thirst for righteousness”.  Until we meet that need, and rise above our old ways of thinking and believing, then we will never have that need quenched.  There is no substitute for it.  It is time to stop believing that you can’t, or that you don’t want to change, because that is a lie.  Instead, let that hunger motivate you to seek what truly satisfies.

When I understand that this intense hunger is a need to overcome, then I also realize there is more aggression to overcome.  I don’t want to be held back any longer.  I don’t want to be passively accept status quo.  I can’t.  I’m hungry.  When a person truly becomes hungry enough, they cannot ignore it anymore.  At some point they stop waiting for food to fall in their life.  If they have no food in the fridge or no money to buy more, than they will beg or start looking in other people’s dumpsters.  When we have a hunger for righteousness, we can get so hungry that we will do whatever we have to do to be filled.  Thank You Lord Jesus for giving us this hunger.  Surely those who have it and see it for what it is, will finally be satisfied.
